Your teen can feel confident they’re prepared for their written permit test by taking our free practice tests.

1. Complete the Parent-taught Driver Education Affidavit Application

Before your teen starts their driving journey, you’ll need to make sure you are both eligible for parent-taught driver education. Your teen must be at least 15 years old before they can start taking a driver education course. If they meet the age requirement, the next step is to fill out the Parent Taught Driver Education Affidavit Application online.

2. Sign Up for Oklahoma Parent-taught Drivers Ed with Aceable

Once you’ve received your approval number from Service Oklahoma, the next step is to purchase Aceable’s Oklahoma parent-taught driver education course. Our 30-hour.

3. Get a Learner Permit

Your teen can get their permit at age 15 ½ with proof of purchase of a driver education course. If your teen is not enrolled in a driver education course, they’ll have to wait until they’re 16 to get their permit. Your teen must pass a written and vision exam to receive their permit. Aceable’s course will help your student prepare for the written permit exam! Your teen can also reference the official Oklahoma Driver Manual and take unlimited practice tests in the Aceable app’s Resources section to prepare for their written exam.

4. Complete Behind-the-Wheel Instruction and Finish the Course!

If you choose to do parent-taught driver education, your teen must complete 55 hours of behind-the-wheel practice with an eligible parent instructor. Aceable provides a driving log in the app’s Resources section to help your teen track their driving practice.

5. Complete the Oklahoma Work Zone Safe Course

Beginning November 1, 2023, teens must complete the free online Oklahoma Work Zone Safe Course. Your teen must show a certificate of completion to get an Intermediate License.

6. Pass the Driving Test

To take the driving skills test, your teen must be at least 16, and must have had their Learner Permit for at least 180 days (and had no traffic convictions during that time). If they qualify, they can make an appointment with Service Oklahoma to take their driving test. Your teen will need a parent to accompany them to this appointment.

7. Get an Intermediate License!

Once your teen passes their driving test, they’ll be issued an Intermediate License. Now, they’re ready to join the ranks of Aceable drivers. Congratulations on this parenting milestone!
